A dovetail saw is used to cut the sides of the "pins" and "tails" and then a chisel and mallet are used to carefully remove the waste.

Because of the delicate pins, dry fitting the joint together to test the fit can damage the edges of the wood. The crispness of the joints in these boxes is maintained by glueing the tails and pins and putting it together once and only once. No trial fit
